Mother's Day French Toast

With Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I wanted to highlight a popular brunch offering that can be done much easier than you think.   When cooking for a crowd of brunch guests, preparing french toast can be a daunting task.  That's why I wanted to share a method that may cut down on the tedious cooking time.  I recently came across a way to prepare a full sheet pan of french toast, all at once, right in your oven.  My favorite thing about this recipe is the prep. Everything can be done the night before, and simply put in a pre- heated oven when its time to get your brunch on.

I've mentioned the Challah Pullman loaf from Tribeca Ovens a few times here, as it has quickly become my favorite "all purpose" loaf because its versatility. I simply cut the Challah an inch thick and then cut the slices in half, creating two extra large batons.  They soak on both sides in a quick mixture of egg, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, and get laid out in a single layer in a well greased baking pan.  Your prep is now done, wasn't that easy?

All you have to do now is simply put in your oven when your ready for brunch, and cook for about 10 minutes on each side in an oven set at 375.  Your basic french toast is now ready to be dressed as you desire.  Enjoy!
